Automatic Number Plate Recognition (ANPR)

Extraction of a vehicles’ licence plate number from a video image by the use of an optical system which automatically detect, read, and process vehicle's number plates. "Process" means to transform the content of the picture taken from the number plate into a digital manageable form, e. g. into a text string of a program language. (possibly including a vehicle type classification and speed measurement).
