Mathematics as an aweful bore? As if! Today more than ever, mathematics is fascinating scientific branch, standing strong in all areas of our everyday lives, even traffic management: Applied mathematics makes traffic lights regulate the flow of traffic more efficiently and helps navigation systems find the shortest distance between starting point and destination. From October 18-21, Munich’s Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität will be hosting “Münchner Wissenschaftstage”, an annual science fair. Taking up the scientific theme of “2008 – Year Of Mathematics” the event, covering talks, tours, workshops and training sessions, will be wholly dedicated to the sciences of both applied and abstract mathematics.
During the event, Satellic Traffic Management GmbH will present a speech about the evolution of road charge concepts from the tollgates of yesteryear to today’s advanced satellite-based systems. The lecture will take place on October 18, 16:30h at Audimax, the great lecture hall of Luwig-Maximilians-Universität. Admission is free.
