Field Operation Centre

A specific central system located in a secure operation environment used to operate field equipment. FOC typically consists of systems for communication, configuration and monitoring and are systematically part of the field (in terms of a front end sub system). The FOC for OBUs is also known as OOC (OBU Operation Centre).

Fixed OBU

Indicates the kind of DIN-sized OBU which is permanently fixed inside the vehicle. In contrast to the 'easyOBU', more effort is needed to install, more time and potentially only expert personal is able/allowed to do the installation.

Floating Car Data (FCD)

Data about the local position and motion condition that is collected by clients on each vehicle of a fleet and transmitted (either online or in bunches but without appreciable further processing) to a data centre where it can be interpreted to produce vehicle specific results as well as historical or online traffic information.

Fraud

Results from any intentional act tending to avoid the electronic collection of fees using means prohibited by the rules or the laws applicable to the network concerned. Fraud includes technical as well as organisational manipulations and internal as well as external organisational units and systems might be involved.

Fraud Management

The process of identifying, prosecuting and avoiding internal and external fraud (i.e. intentional system manipulation).

Frontend System

A sub-system with direct contact to the system's environment, typically delivering data from or communicating with entities of the environment (via HMIs, etc). A front end might consist of field equipment; in this case the field operation centre is part of it. Front end systems are forming the "skin" or "outer shell" of a system.
