Offboard Account

In central system available account for collecting charge for a specific SCC. (For anonymous accounts only, equal to "realtime-account")

Offence Processing

The processes or subsystems concerning the management of evidence records produced by an enforcement frontend, including verification and prosecution according to the national legal conditions.

On Board Equipment (OBE)

The OBU plus all other peripherals (like antennas, mounting brackets, cable kits, etc.)

On Board Unit (OBU)

The On Board Unit is the device used in the automatic scheme to charge the toll. It is a technical apparatus mounted in a vehicle to support automatic toll collection and other vehicle related services. OBUs are used in certain RSE as well as in GNSS based systems and might be secured and personalised by an included or separately SAM. The mounting and/or operation of an OBU might need additional equipment (OBE) which can be installed independently (preparation for easy mounting) of or together with (fixed installation) an OBU.

Onboard Account

In OBU available account for collecting charge. (value will be reduced with every process of pricing.) Used for RegisteredAoccounts and for AnonymousAccounts. If the value of Onboard Account is less than Margin, no further toll collecting will be allowed.

Operational Data Management (ODM)

On organisation unit (OU) and the associated central systems that have the purpose to maintain and distribute the data required by field clients (e.g. toll object definitions or software modules and operating parameters for OBUs).

Optical Character Recognition (OCR)

A technology to detect and convert written characters in photographs or video images into a machine processable form. Can be used (in conjunction with bar code reading) to automatically process paper forms in CRM or to extract licence plate numbers from photographed vehicles (see “Automatic Number Plate Recognition - ANPR”).
